This is why I would move to Iceland

I was going to do a blog about why not to move to Iceland, but then I realised it would just be blank. And in all honesty blogs that are blank aren't that interesting!

Honestly, where else would you find this?

Safest Country in the World

… according to the Global Peace Index in 2008. In 2009 Iceland dropped to the fourth safest country in the world, but still - that’s pretty damn safe!

My future son: So there is a place on Earth where kids can wander around the streets without fear of abduction?
My future self: Yes, son! But only here.
My future son: Ahh, I love living in Iceland!

#14 - They don’t seem to get affected by volcanic eruptions (or at least that’s what the news has made it out to be)
So while the recent eruption of Eyjafjallajökull has forced Europe’s aviation industry into a state of panic, the people of Iceland can relax knowing that all the ash from Eyjafjallajökull is being blown to every country in Europe, except theirs… good on you Iceland!
Edit: this is pretty much meant to be sarcastic about the fact that the news only seems to be reporting about this so frequently is because how much it’s disrupted their lives and completely overlooked how this might be disrupting Iceland’s farming industry.

#13 – Seljalandsfoss
Seljalandsfoss is a majestic and picturesque water fall located in South Iceland. Water flows off its unique cliff face before plummeting over 60 metres. Although this doesn’t make it the biggest waterfall in Iceland it is arguably the most famous simply because of its sheer beauty and because it is rare in the sense that you can go under the cliff face and view that waterfall from behind. In season six of The Amazing Race Seljalandsfoss was feature as a rest point in the first leg.

# 12 – Björk
Björk Guðmundsdótti is arguably one of the best musicians in existence. Even if her music isn’t to your fancy there’s no denying that this Icelandic lady has talent. Born in Iceland’s capital Reykjavík Björk released her first album in 1977 when she was a mere eleven years old. Since then she has released six more albums and has been nominated for 13 Grammy awards. As a ‘Thanks’ from Iceland she received the Island of Elliðaey. I don’t think I can imagine anything more revitalising than lying in Þingvellir whilst listening to Björk.
“Iceland is all about the nature you don’t see anywhere else in the world. It’s such a special island.”

#11 - Their churches are a Godsend… literally!
From my research of Iceland I have concluding that Iceland has many churches, especially in proportion to their population. By far the most famous church is Iceland is Hallgrímskirkja (pictured), however, nearly all of these churches are out of the ordinary and special in some way… it’s enough to make you want to thank the Lord!

#10 - Escape
Ever wanted to escape? Ever wanted to run away from everything surrounding you? I don’t know about you, but I have countless times. Why not run away to Iceland? Escape to some solitude… one on one with nature, with the forces that shaped the land and made it as it is today. Often there’s nothing I want more than to sit in a field and with myself, or maybe with someone who’s close to my heart and simply sit and observe this lovely earth we live it. Maybe it’s just the idealist in me, but (for me) that would literally be heaven on earth.
